Movement is a Life Force. It’s an energy inside all of us that animates our experience of life. At First Light Pilates we recognize this life force is not just inside of some of us with a particular body type, it’s in all of us.

First Light Pilates is about collectively creating a powerful place for people to move their bodies. It’s a space where you can move and leave the outside world behind while focusing on yourself and your Pilates practice. Whether you’ve done Pilates for 10 years, or you’ve just thought about doing Pilates for 10 minutes, I’d love to welcome you into the studio.

My Pilates journey began nearly a decade ago after a back injury and surgery left me searching for a way to back to life and doing everything I loved. Having been a competitive long distance runner, triathlete, hiker, and skier, the prospect of living my life without participating in these activities was not an option. When I discovered the healing power of Pilates, I was hooked. I knew I had to share what I learned with others. For me, Pilates was my way to back to life through movement.

That’s why I created First Light Pilates as a boutique studio; it’s as a space to meet people where they’re at in their practice and to discover and expand your life force!

The studio is small intentionally. This allows me to focus on each student’s movement patterns and to offer corrections and strategies to maximize individual movement.

As a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher and Pilates student, I recognize that every body is different. My Pilates learning journey began under the tutelage of Brett Howard where I earned my Classical Pilates USA Teacher Certification.

Over a 2 year period I observed, learned anatomy, movement and the Classical Teachings of Joseph Pilates and Romana Kryzanowaska. My apprentice program was grounded in the most classical form of Pilates where I learned all aspects of Pilates from beginner through advanced.

Today I continue my advance learning in an active manner, looking to enhance my breath of understanding and teaching techniques with Cara Reeser. This program takes the learnings from Kathy Grant’s work in the Pilates Method as learned and experienced by Cara. As a Heritage graduate, I’ve learned there is not one body to teach to and one way to teach.

Since my approach is to meet people where they are, I’ve created a path to learning and development to meet your movement goals.

Whether it’s through private, semi-private, group equipment or mat classes, there’s a range of choices for all levels.

Classes are designed to let you get comfortable with the flow and poses and to continue to advance in your practice. Offerings reflect a spirit of opening the opportunity for people to participate in Pilates.

My commitment to my students is to creating community grounded in positive energy. It’s a space that’s safe, motivational, and inspiring. At First Light Pilates, I want you to feel a sense of personal achievement in every session, because movement IS a life force.
